Offence Summary

Sina Omari, a 20-year-old Iranian national from Eastville, Bristol, was charged with rape, multiple counts of child sexual exploitation, making indecent photographs of children, and drug supply offences in a group exploitation case.

Full Description

In a significant development in Bristol's fight against child sexual exploitation, Sina Omari was among seven men who appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court facing numerous charges. The case involves allegations of offences against 11 teenage girls aged 14 to 17 from 2022 to 2025, investigated by Avon and Somerset Police.

Sina Omari, a 20-year-old Iranian national from Eastville, Bristol, was charged with two counts of rape, four counts of arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child, one count of causing or inciting the sexual exploitation of a child, two counts of making an indecent photograph of a child, one count of being concerned in the supply of cocaine, and one count of being concerned in the supply of ecstasy. The investigation commenced in November 2023 after reports of a teenage girl's exploitation, leading to arrests in April 2024.

Omari was re-arrested on Tuesday and appeared in court on Wednesday before District Judge Lynne Matthews. He did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody, with the next hearing set for 17 December at Bristol Crown Court. Detective Chief Inspector Tom Herbert commented: “Working with our partners, we’ve ensured the most appropriate safeguarding measures and support has been made available to each victim to protect them from harm.”

The Crown Prosecution Service, through James Bolton-Smith of the Organised Child Sexual Abuse Unit, confirmed the charges arose from the Bristol investigation, urging restraint in public commentary to avoid prejudicing the proceedings. Avon and Somerset Police continue to collaborate with local entities to raise awareness of exploitation signs.
