Full Description

Habib Tarafdar turned to the internet to access over 2,000 indecent images of children, later claiming it was a form of solace after struggling with his sexuality. He attempted to argue that he did not understand the damage caused by viewing such material, but the judge rejected this defence.

Tarafdar pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children. In May 2021, he was sentenced to one year custodial for each count, suspended for two years, with all sentences running concurrently. The case was handled by Bedfordshire Police, who emphasised the harm inflicted on child victims through the demand for such images.

This sentencing aimed to allow rehabilitation while imposing strict monitoring.
