A factory worker from Pontypridd, described by colleagues and relatives as hardworking, kind, and generous, has been unmasked as a paedophile following his conviction at Cardiff Crown Court.

Dylan Glyndwr Price, 46, of King Street, Pontypridd, was jailed for four years after a jury of six men and six women found him guilty of seven serious sexual offences against children. The offences, which occurred almost a decade prior to the trial, involved inciting and engaging in sexual activity with child victims. Price had denied all allegations during the trial, insisting to the court that the events described had never taken place. However, the jury did not believe his account and convicted him on the charges, while clearing him of six further counts.

Testimonials presented in court painted a positive picture of Price's character. A relative described him as 'hardworking, kind and generous', stating, 'I have absolutely never had any concerns about him or his behaviour'. Colleagues from his workplace at Fibre Components Ltd on Treforest Industrial Estate echoed this, calling him honest, helpful, reliable, outgoing, easy to get along with, and conscientious. He had progressed from machine operator to supervisor, training new recruits and always willing to assist others. Despite these glowing references, the two child victims provided harrowing testimony that revealed a darker side to Price's character, detailing the sexual abuse they endured.

The sentencing took place at Cardiff Crown Court in August 2014, as reported by Wales Online. Price will serve half of his four-year custodial sentence behind bars before being released on licence. Additionally, his name will remain on the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely. South Wales Police and the Crown Prosecution Service successfully applied for a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which will restrict his future contact with youngsters upon his release from prison.
