Suleman Baig

Offence Summary

Suleman Baig, a sexual predator from Grimsby, groomed two young girls, engaged in sexual activity with them, requested indecent images, and attempted to pervert the course of justice by pressuring one victim to retract her statement.

Full Description

Suleman Baig, a 40-year-old man from Grimsby, was found guilty of multiple sexual offences against two young girls following a comprehensive police investigation launched in November 2021. The case came to light when authorities were alerted to concerns at a local school, where one of the victims disclosed that Baig had been requesting indecent images from her in exchange for money and had engaged in sexual activity with her.

Detectives from Humberside Police's Protecting Vulnerable People unit promptly investigated, attending the school and interviewing the first girl. Officers then visited Baig's home, where he initially attempted to evade capture by hiding. Upon gaining entry, they arrested him on suspicion of causing a female to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity. As the inquiry progressed, evidence emerged regarding a second victim who had also been abused by Baig. The second girl was interviewed and provided a detailed statement outlining the extent of his offending behaviour.

Baig was initially released on conditional bail while further evidence was gathered. However, he breached these conditions on two occasions by visiting the home of one of the victims. In one incident, he snuck into the property and urged her to pressure her friend into retracting her statement to the police. Forensic analysis of Baig's electronic devices revealed thousands of incriminating messages, along with explicit images and videos involving both girls, further solidifying the case against him.

After pleading guilty to several charges, Baig was again released on conditional bail, which included surrendering all travel documents. He complied by handing over a passport at Grimsby Victoria Police Station on 10 December 2025, but it was later discovered to be expired, and he had retained his valid documents. This led to his rearrest and additional charges for breaching bail conditions.

The two-day trial at Grimsby Crown Court resulted in Baig being found guilty on 12 December 2025 of three counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, two counts of paying for sexual services of a child, two counts of sexual communications with a child, two counts of doing an act intending to pervert the course of justice, attempting to pay for the sexual services of a child, sexual assault, making indecent photographs of children, and possession of prohibited images of children. He was remanded in custody and scheduled to reappear for sentencing on 26 January 2026.

Leading investigator Philip Shrimpton commended the bravery of the victims and witnesses, stating: "Baig is a manipulative sexual predator who groomed two girls for his own sexual gratification and attempted to pressure them to deny this to the police." The case, reported by Gi Grimsby News, highlights the thorough work of Humberside Police in addressing child sexual exploitation in the North East Lincolnshire area.
