Full Description

Sabaratnam Arulsikamani, a 60-year-old resident of Water Lane in Watford, Hertfordshire, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison following his conviction for historic sexual offences against a child. The case, investigated by Hertfordshire Constabulary's Non Recent Child Abuse Investigation Team, centred on incidents dating back to 2011 involving a young teenage girl.

Arulsikamani was tried at St Albans Crown Court, where he was found guilty on three counts of sexual activity with a child. The offences were reported long after they occurred, highlighting the challenges in historic abuse cases. Detective Sergeant Marc Willmore, who led the investigation, emphasised the team's commitment to pursuing such allegations regardless of the time elapsed. 'This investigation and the result achieved from court shows that no matter how long ago the offence took place, or what your circumstances are, these types of allegations will be investigated thoroughly and diligently,' Willmore stated in an official release from Hertfordshire Constabulary.

The sentencing took place on Friday, 8 March 2024, with Arulsikamani also being placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. This outcome underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address child sexual abuse, even when reports are made years later. The case was handled with diligence by the Constabulary, ensuring that justice was served for the victim.
