Full Description

Perwaz Asghar, 50, from Nottingham, was sentenced to six years and six months in 2023 for two counts of indecent assault in the Keighley child sex abuse case from the late 1990s, as named by West Yorkshire Police on 17 January 2025.

Asghar's assaults on the 13- to 14-year-old victim formed part of the grooming and exploitation involving drugs and passing her among men. The victim described her pain: 'Because of them I lost my identity.' Judge Nadim highlighted authority shortcomings.

The multi-year probe's sensitivity was emphasised by Greenbank, honouring victims' steadfastness.

This conviction, among eight, supports calls for inquiries into similar historical abuses.
