A man from Stratton Strawless was sentenced to 11 years in prison after being convicted of rape and sexual assault following two trials. Kevin Duffield, 57, attacked a 20-year-old woman who had been plied with alcohol and cocaine during a night out in Norwich in January 2015.

The victim was taken to a property in Aylsham, where Duffield raped her. He later tracked her down again and sexually assaulted and groped her breasts in his car on Mousehold Heath. Despite denying the charges, claiming he believed the encounter was consensual, he was found guilty of one count of rape and one count of sexual assault.

At King's Lynn Crown Court in February 2025, Judge Andrew Shaw condemned Duffield’s actions, stating: “The impact on her has been immense.” Duffield, previously of Carter's Lane, Stratton Strawless, was jailed for 11 years. A second man was acquitted of two counts of rape in connection with the same incident.

Following his sentencing, Duffield applied for leave to appeal his sentence. His case was scheduled to be heard at the Court of Appeal in London on 14 June.
