Offence Summary

Full Description

Mohammed Chhibda, 49, of Dewsbury, was sentenced to 11 years in prison at Leeds Crown Court on 4 June 2026 after being convicted of two counts of indecent assault against a teenage girl. The offences took place between 1994 and 1997, when the victim was under age, and were part of a wider pattern of sexual abuse by four men.

Chhibda was found guilty following a trial in April 2026. The victim, who courageously spoke out about the long-term effects of the abuse, told the court that the men "took pieces of my soul" and that the trauma had never ended. The case highlighted the devastating impact of historical child sexual exploitation, and the court heard that Chhibda's actions had contributed to the victim's profound suffering.

The judge handed down a substantial custodial sentence, reflecting the seriousness of the breach of trust and the need to hold offenders accountable even decades after the crimes were committed.
