Offence Summary

Jack Westlake was convicted of raping two underage girls and sexually assaulting two more, all under the age of 16, across multiple incidents in Plymouth between 2021 and 2022.

Full Description

A jury at Plymouth Crown Court has found 20-year-old Jack Westlake guilty on all eight charges related to serious sexual offences against four girls, each under the age of 16. The convictions stem from a series of incidents that occurred in Plymouth and the surrounding Devonport area, highlighting a pattern of predatory behaviour targeting vulnerable minors.

Westlake, residing in California Gardens, Plymouth, faced trial for crimes beginning as early as January 2021. On 26 January 2021, he was accused of two counts of assault by penetration against one girl under 16 at a play park in Plymouth. This was followed by a rape and a sexual assault by penetration against another girl under 16 on 26 August 2021. In a separate incident on 26 August 2022, Westlake raped a different underage girl. Additionally, he was charged with four counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child involving yet another girl under 16. These four offences took place in the Devonport area: one between 1 August 2021 and 1 October 2021, another between 1 November 2021 and 18 November 2021, and two on 18 November 2021.

The trial, reported by Plymouth Live crime reporter Carl Eve, concluded with unanimous guilty verdicts from the jury on all charges. Westlake's actions demonstrate a sustained course of sexual exploitation of underage girls, with incidents spanning over a year and a half. The court proceedings took place at Plymouth Crown Court, where evidence was presented detailing the specific dates, locations, and nature of each offence.

Westlake is scheduled to be sentenced on 28 November 2025. The case has been investigated by Devon & Cornwall Police, underscoring their role in pursuing justice for child sex offences in the region.
