Full Description

Nicholas O’Connor, a 35-year-old man from Cwmrhydyceirw, was sentenced to two years in prison following a thorough investigation by South Wales Police into a series of sexual offences committed in the Swansea and Merthyr Tydfil areas.

The offences occurred between 21 September 2024 and 23 October 2024. During this period, O’Connor exposed himself to nine different women. In addition to the exposures, he sexually assaulted two of these women and made an attempt to sexually assault one of them. These actions formed a clear pattern of predatory behaviour, as highlighted by the investigating officer.

  • Seven counts of Exposure
  • One count of Attempted Sexual Assault
  • Four counts of Sexual Assault

O’Connor appeared at Swansea Crown Court on 19 December 2025, where he was found guilty on all twelve charges despite pleading not guilty. The court heard evidence from the victims, whose reports were instrumental in building the case against him. Detective Constable Rebecca Brain, who led the investigation, commended the victims for their courage in coming forward. She stated: “I would like to say thank you to all of the victims who came forward and reported O’Connor’s actions to us. Each report has helped to demonstrate a serious pattern of offending, which has resulted in today’s sentence.”

During the trial, O’Connor attempted to attribute his actions to a medical condition and refused to accept responsibility for his predatory conduct. However, the jury rejected his defence, leading to his conviction. The sentencing provides closure for the victims and underscores the commitment of South Wales Police to pursuing justice in sexual offence cases, ensuring that offenders are held accountable.
