Full Description

Justin Grevatt, 38, from Kingsknowe Court, Edinburgh, was jailed for 20 months at Teesside Crown Court after sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Darlington. The court heard how Grevatt groped the girl’s breast before putting his hand between her legs, leaving her traumatised and unwilling to leave her house. When her mother returned, the victim became hysterical and revealed what happened, prompting the mother to order Grevatt out.

Prosecutor Shaun Dodds explained the severe impact, including the family having to move home due to the horror of the event. Grevatt had a similar offence on his record from over a decade ago. Anthony Davis, mitigating, described it as a ‘momentary aberration’ linked to mental health struggles.

Judge Jo Kidd sentenced Grevatt to 20 months in custody for the sexual assault on a child. He was made subject to a ten-year sexual harm prevention order, required to sign the sex offenders’ register for ten years, and an indefinite restraining order. The case, reported by The Northern Echo, stemmed from proceedings at Teesside Crown Court.
