Offence Summary

Nisar Rahimi sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in a flat in Broadgreen, Liverpool, and was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison for the sexual offence, plus additional time for unrelated charges.

Full Description

On 20 August 2024, at approximately 2.30am, a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by Nisar Rahimi inside an address in Broadgreen, Liverpool. The victim had entered the flat believing she would be safe, but Rahimi, then aged 19, preyed on her vulnerability and carried out the assault despite her evident fear and distress.

Officers from Merseyside Police responded promptly to the report and arrested Rahimi at the scene on suspicion of sexual assault. He was taken into custody for questioning and subsequently charged with sexual assault, as well as unrelated offences of assault and possession of an offensive weapon. Rahimi pleaded guilty to all charges.

On 28 October 2025, at Liverpool Crown Court, Rahimi, now 20 years old and residing on Holmes Street in Liverpool, was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months' imprisonment for the sexual assault. He received an additional 2 years for the unrelated assault and possession of an offensive weapon, resulting in a total custodial term. Furthermore, he was issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and restraining orders against his victims, both lasting 10 years, and required to sign the sex offenders' register for 10 years.

Detective Inspector Tony Meakins of the Child Criminal and Sexual Exploitation Team at Merseyside Police commented: 'Rahimi preyed on a vulnerable teenage girl inside a flat where she thought she would be safe. Once inside the flat he sexually assaulted her and continued to do so despite how scared and frightened she was. This was a terrifying experience for the victim to go through.' Meakins highlighted the swift arrest and the victim's bravery in providing statements that aided the investigation, emphasising the police's commitment to protecting individuals from sexual abuse.

The case underscores the seriousness with which Merseyside Police and the courts address sexual offences, ensuring offenders like Rahimi are removed from the streets to prevent further harm. The source for this information is the official Merseyside Police news release dated 28 October 2025.
