Offence Summary

Full Description

Ron Hall, the former landlord of the Plough and Harrow pub in Welling, south London, was sentenced to nine months in prison for operating a hidden camera to spy on male customers using the toilet facilities. Between February and December 2024, the 50-year-old installed a spy camera above the urinals, capturing 106 videos of 16 unknown men. The footage, discovered on Hall's phone, showed him zooming in and out on the men's private areas for his own sexual gratification.

Police investigations revealed the extent of Hall's voyeuristic activities, which he dismissed during questioning as a 'silly mistake'. He claimed the victims would not have minded being watched and even alleged that some made jokes such as 'have you been watching my knob', unaware that the answer was yes. However, Hall had pleaded guilty to 32 offences of voyeurism, leading to his imprisonment at Woolwich Crown Court in October 2025.

The case highlights the misuse of technology in public spaces, with Hall's actions violating the privacy of pub patrons. According to reports from the Metropolitan Police, the videos were stored on his personal device, confirming the deliberate nature of the offences. Judge comments were not detailed in the coverage, but the sentencing underscores the seriousness of voyeurism under UK law.
