Offence Summary

Wieslaw Piotrowski, a Polish national, was convicted of sexually assaulting an inebriated woman he bundled into a taxi from Perth city centre and took to his home near Scone airport, where he abused her in his bed.

Full Description

Wieslaw Piotrowski, a 62-year-old Polish national, was jailed for 30 months after being found guilty of sexual assault at Perth Sheriff Court. The offence occurred when Piotrowski targeted a 'totally wrecked' woman in Perth city centre, bundling her into a taxi and taking her to his home at the airport near Scone.

  • The taxi driver believed Piotrowski was an angry father collecting his drunken daughter from town.
  • The victim woke up in Piotrowski's bed as he carried out the assault.

Piotrowski had only served a few weeks of his 30-month prison sentence at Perth Prison when he died on 12 February 2022. A fatal accident inquiry into his death is scheduled to begin with a preliminary hearing on 15 January at the Dundee Justice Hub, as announced on the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service website.

The case was previously reported by The Courier, detailing how jurors convicted Piotrowski of going 'shopping for women' in the city centre. Prosecutor statements at trial emphasised the predatory nature of the attack on the inebriated victim.
