Andrew Fairley

Andrew Fairley, a 58-year-old man, has been sentenced for a series of historical sexual offences against children spanning over two decades in various locations across Scotland. The offences, described as non-recent, occurred between 1995 and 2018, highlighting a prolonged period of abuse that Police Scotland has now brought to justice.

Fairley appeared at the High Court in Aberdeen, where he pleaded guilty to a number of these serious charges. On Thursday, 15 September 2022, the court imposed a custodial sentence of five years and six months' imprisonment, reflecting the gravity of his actions and the impact on the victims. This sentencing underscores the commitment of law enforcement to pursue and prosecute such crimes, regardless of the time elapsed since they were committed.

Detective Chief Inspector Cameron Miller of Police Scotland commented on the case, stating: 'We acknowledge the sentencing of Fairley and commend the victims in coming forward. Fairley will now face the consequences of his actions.' Miller further emphasised the force's dedication to tackling sexual offences, noting that there is no time limit for reporting such crimes and that thorough investigations will always be conducted to hold perpetrators accountable.
