Faisal Mehmood, 24, was implicated in the Derby gang's sexual exploitation of vulnerable girls, as revealed by Derbyshire Police's Operation Retriever. The investigation, running trials from February 2010, identified 26 victims, mostly schoolgirls targeted through grooming tactics involving alcohol, drugs, and false pretences of friendship, leading to abusive 'parties' and sexual coercion.

Mehmood pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child before the trial commenced. His role aligned with the gang's pattern of preying on impressionable minors, as described by prosecutor Yvonne Coen QC: 'They exploited these girls either for their own sexual satisfaction or for their friends.' The offences occurred in a context similar to Rotherham's scandals, with girls from diverse backgrounds urged by police to be vigilant against such risks.

Mehmood was sentenced to three years' imprisonment and subsequently deported to Pakistan. The convictions, part of a larger case involving 13 charged men and reported on 25 November 2010, included harrowing court testimonies, like that of a 16-year-old raped in June 2008, who said, 'I tried to do everything I could to stop it so at that stage I just said yes.'
